Theodent is made in an FDA-registered facility in the USA, with domestic and imported ingredients.

SLS is short for sodium laurel sulfate. Though it was common in toothpaste for decades, some people do experience rare side effects from it, like skin irritation in and around the mouth. Theodent products are SLS-free. Theodent Classic & Theodent 300 do contain similarly named sodium lauroyl sarcosinate, a coconut oil-derived replacement to SLS that offers a pleasant foamy texture and is generally considered gentler on skin. Theodent Kids does not contain either foaming agent.

Rennou® works on contact each time you brush. In a seven-day randomized, double-blind in situ study, a Rennou-containing Theodent toothpaste nearly completely occluded exposed dentinal tubules by day three (Clinical Oral Investigations, 2015).

All Theodent toothpastes are fluoride-free, and Theodent Kids is not harmful if accidentally swallowed. For comparison, fluoride toothpastes are required by federal regulation to carry a Poison Control warning if more than the amount used for brushing is accidentally swallowed.

Theodent is used like any other toothpaste. We recommend brushing twice daily for two minutes. Rennou® works on contact, so if you have sensitive teeth, you may choose to let the paste sit on the tooth's surface a little longer before rinsing.

Commercial chocolate generally contains cocoa fat and added sugar, and sugar contributes to cavities. Theodent's interest in cacao focuses on one compound, theobromine, which powers Rennou®. Rennou contains no chocolate, cocoa fat, or sugar.

Theodent is a New Orleans oral care company that makes fluoride-free toothpaste with Rennou®, our patented technology. Rennou is clinically studied, and it promotes rapid remineralization of enamel without the need for fluoride.

Theodent 300 and Theodent Classic offer sensitivity relief. In a seven-day randomized, double-blind in situ study, a Rennou®-containing Theodent toothpaste occluded exposed dentinal tubules faster in the first days than a standard fluoride toothpaste and a NovaMin toothpaste (Clinical Oral Investigations, 2015). Exposed dentinal tubules are a common source of tooth sensitivity.

Rennou® is Theodent's patented technology and the active ingredient in every Theodent toothpaste. It combines theobromine, a naturally occurring compound found in cacao, with calcium and phosphate. The exact formulation is proprietary. Rennou promotes rapid remineralization of enamel without the need for fluoride, and Theodent toothpastes are the only toothpastes made with Rennou.
